CALLING ALL ARTISTS: LET HAMPTON BE YOUR INSPIRATION!
CALL TO ARTISTS:
Please submit to HHI by March 1st any two samples of original artwork.
From these, a jury will select approximately 15 - 20 artists to exhibit one painting (maximum size of 22”x 28), at the inaugural event of the HAI, which will take place on Friday, April 20th, from 6-8 pm in the Orangery at Hampton National Historic Site.
This painting must be inspired by any aspect of Hampton NHS.
Final entries will be judged for cash prizes:
Prizes to be awarded: $1,000 - 1st, $350 - 2nd, and $150 - 3rd.
The April 20th event, will also feature a book-signing and talk by local artist Elizabeth Cockey and historian Dr. Barton Cockey, as we launch their new book - Baltimore County: Historic Reflections and Favorite Scenes.
Time Line:
~ Artists must submit by email (historichampton@verizon.net) any 2 samples of original work by March 1st, 2012.
~ Images must be in JPEG format, and be a maximum of 2 MB in size.
~ Notification of participation in April 20th event will be emailed to artists by March 10th, 2012.
~ Delivery of accepted work: Friday, April 20th, 2012, from 10 am to 12 pm in the Orangery at HNHS.
~ Reception: Friday, April 20th, 2012 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, in the Orangery at HNHS.
~ Pick-up any unsold artwork: Saturday, April 21th, 2012, between 3 pm to 4 pm.
Entry Rules:
~ All paintings for April 20th event must be inspired by any aspect of Hampton National Historic Site.
~ All work must be original, for sale, framed, and ready to display on an easel provided by the artist.
~ All work is subject to be judged by a committee in order to earn a prize at the April 20th HAI event.
~ There is no entry fee, but 30% of the sale price of the work will be donated by the artist to HHI.
~ Paintings that are up to three years old may be submitted for the April 20th event.
~ Artists must deliver any accepted work and pick-up any unsold work by specified dates.

Upon acceptance to the inaugural HAI showcase, I agree to loan the accepted artwork to HHI for the days of April 20 and 21, 2012. I understand that while HHI will take necessary precautions for the safety of the artwork, I, the artist, am responsible for its insurance and well-being. Under no circumstances will I hold HHI or the National Park Service responsible or liable. I understand that if my artwork is fragile or not ready to display on an easel of my provision, then this work will not be included in the exhibit. I agree to allow HHI to use images of my artwork in publicity. My work is original and is for sale. Upon sale during the run of the show, I will receive 70% of its price, and 30% will be donated to the operation of the HAI as implemented by HHI. I am the authorized owner of the work, herein, with the authority to execute this loan agreement, and I agree to be bound by its terms.

This event is being held by Hampton’s supporting organization, Historic Hampton, Inc. (HHI),* in partnership with the Baltimore County Historical Trust (BCHT)*, along with regional artists.
* The mission of HHI, a 501 (c) (3) organization, is to promote directly the historical, scientific, educational and interpretive activities of HNHS and to accept gifts, contributions, or loans and otherwise engage in fundraising to finance and pay for the above mentioned activities in respect to which no funds from the Federal Government or other sources are available.
* The mission of BCHT, a 501 (c) (3) organization, is to preserve historic and significant properties in Baltimore County through education, research, technical assistance and policy formulation. BCHT is dedicated to the core belief that the preservation of the past is essential for shaping the future.
